Wirral Open Studio tour

The Rathbone Studio is part of the Wirral Open Studio tour.

We will be open on Friday 8 June between 6.00 - 9.00, Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 June between 10.00 - 5.00

Over the weekend we will be offering visitor the opportunity to decorate clay tiles by carving through a layer of white slip that has been painted over red terracotta clay. This method of decoration was a main feature of the Della Robbia pottery that was situated on the site of the Rathbone Studio.

If visitors would like their creations glazed and fired, we are happy to do so for a small donation of £2.00 which will be given to the Macmillan charity.

Looking Now at It exhibition inspired by the poems of the Mersey Poets

‘Looking Now at It’

An art exhibition that is inspired by the poems of The Mersey Sound poets Adrian Henri, Roger McGough and Brian Patten.

Fifty years ago in 1967 Penguin Books published number 10 in their modern poetry anthology series featuring three poets, called The Mersey Sound. The book was revised and expanded in 1974.

The Mersey Sound is one of the bestselling poetry anthologies of all time.

‘Looking Now at It’ invites artists to interpret any poem or part of a poem by the Mersey Sound poets, Adrian Henri, Roger McGough and Brian Patten in their own individual way.

Submission by Saturday 7th October.

Opening Friday 20th October. Exhibition opens Tuesday to Saturday until 23rd December.

For further information about submission please contact Rathbone Studio.
